Inside Bikes

Got a question

Samurai Choppers, which feature S&S V-twin motors and are made by Zero Engineering in Japan are setting up a European distribution centre in Suffolk, reports Alastair Walker.

The Samurai Chopper range consists of three models, two Bobber style bikes with high `bars, fat tyres and cutdown mudguards and one lowrider with a semi-upswept exhaust, raked out forks and old school 1940s style wheels and tyres.

The Samurai Chopper machines have appeared in the Hollywood Iron Man movie and biking celeb Brad Pitt owns one. Zero Engineering have been designing and building bikes in Japan since 1984 and are making a serious push into Europe in 2010′ having launched in the US market at the V-Twin Expo back in 2008.

The new European operation will be run by Krazy Horse Custom, based in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, with a new purpose-built workshop and showroom located on a business park nearby. Paul Beamish from Krazy Horse told the local press that he hopes the new shop will be open by late summer 2010. They hope to build between 100-150 complete bikes each year for sale across the EU market.

If you want to see the Samurai bikes in the metal, then your earliest chance will be at the MCN London Motorcycle Show, which takes place at Excel later in January.
