The Isle of Man Classic TT Races is back for 2025 and the list of stars set to race is impressive, with almost all the biggest names in TT racing expected to participate.
Having last run in 2019, classic bike classes were integrated into the Manx Grand Prix in the post-Covid years, but 2025 sees the return of the high profile event running in the week after the Manx, with TT winners Michael Dunlop, Dean Harrison, John McGuinness, Ian Hutchinson and Davey Todd all set to fly around the legendary Mountain course on classic machinery.
Qualifying for the Classic TT gets underway on Wednesday 20 August, alongside the Manx Grand Prix race week, and there will be four classic racing classes: Formula One, Lightweight, Historic Senior and Historic Junior.
Formula One will consist largely of superbikes from the modern classic era, such as Honda’s RC30 and Suzuki’s GSX-R750, while the lightweights see popular 250cc Grand Prix two-strokes do battle alongside 400cc four-strokes from the 1980s and 1990s, like the Kawasaki ZXR400 and Yamaha FZR400RR. The historic classes take a step further back in time, with four-strokes of 500cc (Senior) and 350cc (Junior) on the grid.
The Classic TT has always been a spectator friendly event, giving fans an opportunity to not only see and hear some amazing classic motorbikes being ridden in anger, but also to meet with the star name riders in a more relaxed environment compared to the main TT in May and June.
Once again the Classic promises to be a real who’s who of TT racing, with the big names joined by many specialist classic motorbike racers and some up-and-comers looking to use the event to make a name for themselves while gaining valuable experience of the 37.73-mile course.
As well as the modern day race winners mentioned earlier, current stars Nathan Harrison, Conor Cummins and Dominic Herbertson just a few of the other names on the entry lists. Racing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 27 and Friday 29 August, but with the Manx Grand Prix races taking place on the preceding weekend, there’s plenty on for fans who want to make a week of it.
