Ducati’s Panigale V4 range has never been renowned for not being track focussed, but if you fancied something a little snazzier then the previous V4 SP was designed to hit that spot, taking things to the next level with some posher parts and its own stealthy colour scheme. But now for 2022, Ducati have pushed that envelope even further not just with the standard Panigale models, but with the next step up: this is the Panigale V4 SP2.
Essentially, the V4 SP2 gets all the same updates from the previous generation, meaning that it utilises the same 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine as the standard models. It’s not exactly the same though, as the V4 SP has been given a lighter 520 chain, alongside a STM-EVO SBK dry clutch, which essentially improves the downshifts and offers the possibility of customising the mechanical engine brake level. Everything else remains the same in terms of the engine and the electronics, although you do get the Ducati DDA kit included too, which essentially gives you data logging for when you’re out on track.
Unlike the standard model, you get a nice set of carbon wheels that are not only 1.4kg lighter, but also give less inertia too, for better handling credentials. Alongside this, the V4 SP2 comes equipped with more powerful Brembo Stylema R Brakes and an improved MCS radial master cylinder which has a remote adjuster as standard, alongside milled brake and clutch levers. Ducati have then gifted the V4 SP2 with some adjustable Rizoma footpegs and given it the gorgeously stealthy ‘Winter Test’ livery, complete with a whole host of carbon fibre details.
There will only be a limited number of V4 SP2 machines on sale, and they will be hitting dealers this month. If you fancy one, the asking price is £34,295, and there’s an optional track kit available too.
