Leon Haslam has signed with BMW for the 2011 World Superbike season, just 24 hours after being released by Alstare Suzuki.
The Derbyshire rider, who lost out to Max Biaggi in the title race on Sunday, will partner veteran rider Troy Corser in the 2011 after signing a two-year contract with the German factory.
Haslam was told yesterday that he was free to look for a new team for 2011 by the Alstare team, as doubts continue to surface over the Suzuki factory’s commitment to WSB beyond this season.
The move could potentially offer Haslam a back-door into MotoGP in 2012, with BMW reportedly interested in competing as the Grand Prix series moves to 1,000cc machinery in 2012.
