American brand Indian has announced a £14,699 range-topping version of its flat track inspired FTR1200, named the FTR1200 Carbon.
The FTR1200 Carbon is the fifth model in the FTR1200 range, joining the FTR1200 Rally, S, Race Replica and the sub £12,000 base model in the line up.
As the name suggests, the FTR1200 Carbon comes fully loaded with carbon fibre parts, including the front mudguard, headlight nacelle, seat cowl, tank and airbox covers. Adding to the lightweight trickery, Slovenian exhaust wizards have provided a low mounted titanium system for the FTR with black end cans. Subtle new tank badging sets off the look and tells fellow bikers you’re not running any old Indian.
The Carbon’s parts carry a £600 premium over the FTR1200S Race Replica, upon which it is based. That means that the Carbon runs the same black and white colour scheme with distinctive red frame. Indian has made a big deal of the bike’s link to the factory FTR750 flat track machines, and although the styling comes out of the rough and ready world of the American dirt ovals, the FTR1200S is a fully-refined road bike with a spec sheet to justify the near £15k price tag.
The fully loaded Indian weighs in at 228kg before fuel and features the same 125bhp, 1203cc V-twin as the other FTR1200 models. Tech includes cruise control, traction control, full LED lighting and a 4.3” LED touchscreen dashboard, with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB charging port.
The electronics package includes lean-angle sensitive stability control, wheelie control, cruise control and three riding modes. And if your FTR1200 Carbon isn’t blingy enough, your friendly Indian dealer has a catalogue of over 40 accessories with which you can modify and customise your bike.
