A scorching day out at Durham BikeWise 2019
There was sun-cream aplenty at Durham BikeWise 2019, with the hot weather descending on the north east just in time for this brilliant biking bonanza!
But more than anything there were simply thousands of motorcycling enthusiasts celebrating a wonderful 25th anniversary for this marvellous event.
Put on each year Cleveland and Durham Police Bikes, there was no shortage of events all day long. The Carole Nash team loved every minute at Durham Police HQ!
So much to see at Durham BikeWise 2019
One of the main attractions at this year’s show was the Dick Shepherd motorcycle collection. On display all day, it included the original 1966 Buddy Elmore Daytona-winning Triumph T100R and the first Triumph Bonneville. Two absolute crackers!
Elsewhere, the 3SIXTY stunt team showed off its skills in a heart-stopping display in Arena 2. Live band Red 5 provided the musical backdrop to the day’s entertainment, while the police helicopter and the Great North air ambulance attracted plenty of selfies.
Renowned stunt man Dave Coates ran through his favourite moves twice – once in the morning and again in the afternoon. And both his shows included a special guest appearance from superintendent Andy Huddleston.
The Jamie Squibb Freestyle Display also had the crowds flocking, while the police dog display from the Paws Up team was as popular as ever as Durham’s canine heroes ran through the full range of their expert skills. Police demonstrations on seatbelt safety also hit the spot!
Goodies galore at the Carole Nash stand
It was great to meet so many of you face-to-face at Durham BikeWise 2019. We lost count of the number of goodie bags we gave out – and our merchandise proved equally popular.
Our free prize draw was won by Robert from Sedgefield – congratulations Robert! – and our team of insurance experts were happy to answer so many questions from so many dedicated bikers.
We look forward to heading back to the north east in 2020!
