Spectacular stunts and family fun at LlanBikeFest 2019

The fifth instalment of LlanBikeFest was undoubtedly the biggest and best yet, uniting motorcycle mavens from across north Wales and beyond over a shared passion for all things bike.

Over the weekend of August 3rd and 4th, Llangollen was inundated with bikes of all types from every era as riders made their way across to the tourist town, home to the famous scenic motorcycling road, the Horseshoe Pass.

Hundreds of riders readied their machines for judging at the family-friendly event, which combined closely-fought contests, high-octane stunts, live music and loads of fun for all ages.

Stars and stunts

Stars of the motorcycling world were out in force for LlanBikeFest 2019, with trials champion Steve Colley putting on an amazing stunt show on only one wheel, leaving visitors open mouthed.

Steve was joined over the weekend by his namesake Steve Plater, former supersport star, who led a revealing interview with the event’s guest of honour Ian ‘Hutchy’ Hutchinson – the only person to win five TT races in a week!

Meanwhile, visitors who fancied experiencing life in the seat of a stuntman did just that over at the Extreme Wheelie stand, while spectators who preferred to keep a safe distance were treated to some great trials demos by the Llangollen & District Junior Motorcycle Club.

A weekend of family fun

There were beautiful bikes of all types to drool over at LlanBikeFest 2019, from custom classics to road racers.

An astounding array of Triumphs were on show over the weekend – everything from the Bonneville Bobber to the Street Scrambler. A particular crowd-pleaser was a distinctive vintage Shuttleworth Snap, brought over by George Formby tribute artist Graeme Hardy, who also entertained the crowds with his ukulele skills!

There were dozens of trade stands to browse, live music and food and drink aplenty, as well as lots of family fun, including a falconry show and some daredevil stunts involving a monowheel bike brought along by a visitor!

Guests also had the opportunity to listen to tales of adventure and travel from biking authors, including Steve Stewart, who rode the length of North and South America, and Jacqui Furneaux, who bought an Enfield at the age of 50 spent the next seven years exploring the world on two wheels.

For those visitors whose appetites for adventure were well and truly whetted, specialist bike tour provider RAMS Adventures was on hand to make arrangements for bike tours across Europe, India and even the Himalayas.

Carole Nash at LlanBikeFest 2019

Carole Nash was delighted to sponsor LlanBikeFest once again – the event is always a highlight of our annual calendar and this year’s instalment was no exception.

We had plenty of visitors to our stand and the team was happy to answer all kinds of questions over the weekend – there’s nothing we like more than helping bikers get a better deal on their insurance premiums.

Our visitors also had the chance to enter an exciting and completely free prize draw to win some belting biking prizes! Whether they scooped a prize or not, everyone was a winner, walking away with an exclusive Carole Nash goodie bag.

We can’t wait for next year – see you at LlanBikeFest 2020!
