Wow, just wow. What an incredible weekend was had by all at this year’s Classic & Vintage Car Festival, proudly sponsored by Carole Nash. With organisers calling it the biggest classic racing party, all we can say is – they’re not wrong. The atmosphere was electric on both days, soundtracked by roaring motorbikes and vintage cars which drew a crowd of 8,000 across Saturday and Sunday.
The sun shone on Mondello Park, where visitors witnessed thrilling live races, classic car magic and enjoyed all the thrills of the vintage funfair. Audiences were treated to NASCAR demos and cheered as pre-55s, Formula Ford 1600s and many more took to the track. The crowd buzzed as they watched the Dublin Grand Prix Trophy, the St. Brigid's Trophy, the Birrane Perpetual Trophy, and the famously feisty pre-war Sports Car races play out in spectacular fashion. All in all, it was a truly epic weekend of racing.
Away from the track, spectators were wowed by a stunning collection of classic Jaguars in the paddock, as well as the Martin Birrane collection of iconic classic cars which is housed at Mondello Park – a circuit owned by Birrane’s family.
With live music & dancing an almost permanent fixture in the paddock, and live brass bands taking opportunities to perform on the track, there really was something for absolutely everyone.
One thing’s for sure, 2024’s Classic & Vintage Car Festival is one that’ll be remembered for years to come.
