Classic car events roundup – July

Swingin’ Vintage – Bowlers Centre, Manchester

New for 2015, this all-day festival celebrates the cars, music and fashion of the three decades from the 1940s to the 1970s. With Hot Rods, Rat Rods and custom cars on display along with rockabilly bands and burlesque shows, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable celebration of American days gone by.

July 5th

Corbridge Show – Corbridge, Northumberland

Beginning with just 60 vehicles in 1997, the Corbridge show has gained traction over the years, and this year over 700 classic cars are expected to make an appearance – making it the North-East’s biggest classic car event. Vintage and veteran vehicles from all eras will be on display, along with a range of trade stalls and music. The show raises money for charity too, so it’s a great way to support a good cause.

July 11th

Chateau Impney Hill Climb – Droitwich Spa, West Midlands

With 200 competitors ready to take on the 1,000-yard challenge, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb will feature cars from nine iconic eras – including a Fiat S76, a Maserati 250F/2518 and a Chapman Mercury III. This unmissable two-day event for fans of motorsport history will also include an auction of classics: the perfect opportunity to pick up a new addition for the garage!

Glamis Scottish Transport Extravaganza – Glamic Castle, Angus

Now in its 41st year, the Glamis Scottish Transport Extravaganza is staged by the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club at one of Scotland’s most iconic castles. The two-day event is expected to feature over 1,000 cars and 150 stands, including autojumbles, antiques and crafts. The extravaganza is known as Scotland’s number one vintage motoring event – not to be missed!

July 24th

Silverstone Classic – Silverstone, Northamptonshire

The world’s biggest racing festival of vintage motors, the Silverstone Classic will be a red letter day for many classic car aficionados. The three-day event is packed full of thrilling races and demonstrations: historic Formula One cars, GT legends and touring cars are just a few, and nearly every marque from Jaguar to Ginetta is represented in the owners club section.

July 26th

The Great Sports Classics Day – Castle Combe Circuit, Wiltshire

If you’ve got a sports car that you’re dying to take for a spin, everyone’s been invited to take part in parade laps at one of the UK’s longest-established circuits. It’s £14 for all three on-track sessions around Castle Combe, or free to display your motor at the event. So far there are some cracking vintage cars signed up, including a 1933 MG J2, a 1962 Healey Frogeye Sprite and a 1958 Triumph TR3a.
