Rolls Royce have produced some amazing motors, with one of the most famous being the Silver Ghost. The company have decided to honour the memory of the car by bringing out a new array of vehicles called the ‘Silver Ghost Collection.’ The limited run of 35 cars are meant to showcase the historical importance of the original model.
Each car is a customised version of the current Ghost, with unique design features. Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer at Rolls-Royce said “the extraordinary accomplishments of our marque’s founding fathers are honoured by the creation of the elegant Silver Ghost Collection.”
“The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective masterfully weave the rich narrative of the original Silver Ghost into just 35 motor cars, creating a contemporary homage to the original motor car. Today, our craftspeople and master artisans continue the legacy of excellence, creating unique motor cars that define luxury.”
The car sports the traditional Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament. The registration plate of the original Silver Ghost is marked on the base of each statue, with a black-gold-plated collar shrouding the bottom. Bespoke silver paint combines cold and warm tones, channelling the spirit of the original car.
Each motor has taken eight hours to paint and it’s been mixed with fine particles of 100% pure silver. The Pantheon grille is coated black, while the wheel centres are engraved with ‘Silver Ghost – Since 1907’ to highlight when the Ghost first went into production.
The interior features Forest Green leather tipped with silver. Other references to the original model include a clock that’s styled as an ingot of and engraved with the same words as the wheel centres.
Product Manager Matthew Butt commented on the design process. “Careful consideration has been paid to the collection’s defining features. References extolling the past are skillfully hand-crafted into Ghost’s interior and exterior, creating a contemporary homage which speaks as much of today’s great brand as the original Silver Ghost does on its day. This is a truly remarkable collection.”
