Survey Shows That British Motorists Think The Aston Martin DB5 Is The Greatest Film Car Of All Time

It’s safe to say that the British love their cars, especially the film variety. Plenty of classic

motors have appeared in movies that have taken the world by storm, and Hyundai wanted to see which car was the favourite. The survey revealed that James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 is the greatest film car, according to 2000 British motorists. This comes as no surprise, considering how tightly James Bond is woven into the fabric of British pop culture.

The Aston Martin DB5 first appeared in 1964’s Goldfinger, going on to appear in seven other Bond films. The second most popular car was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, followed by the DeLorean from Back to the Future. The Herbie VW Beetle came in forth, while the Batmobile from Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy came in fifth.

Hyundai commissioned OnePoll.com to carry out the survey in celebration of their new cars, which appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp. The cars included the Veloster, KONA and Santa Fe, with the most prominent being the Veloster.

A spokesperson from Hyundai said “the film has been a useful publicity vehicle for the marque. Having our all-new Veloster immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a great way to entertain consumers and showcase the vehicle’s stylish design and performance capabilities to a massive audience. We wanted to take full advantage of this collaboration by engaging fans and providing them with experiences beyond the big screen.”

Other cars to be featured in the poll included the James Bond Lotus Esprit S1, the Minis from the Italian Job, Iron Man’s Audi R8 and the Acura NSX that appeared in the first Avengers film.

The survey also demonstrated the greatest car chases of all time. The top sequence was the escape scene in The Italian Job, with the chase scene from Bullitt coming in second place. Researchers found that 55% of motorists said the ideal car chase needed to feature near misses and 32% wanted to see cars driving into oncoming traffic.

Hyundai have also released a new Marvel car. “In addition to the Veloster featuring in the latest Marvel film, we’ve also just unveiled our KONA Iron Man Edition SUV at Comic Con. It’s interior and exteriors are inspired by the iconic Iron Man suit and it’ll be built-to-order with limited global production, on-sale in the United Kingdom next year. Our relationship with Marvel is more than just product placement as we aim to create custom experiences that resonate with the Marvel audience.”
