Based around a 40bhp, 644cc, air-cooled single cylinder engine that can trace its roots back to the venerable Honda Dominator from the late ‘80s, the X-Ride 650 Trail has more than a look of the classic Yamaha XT500 about it – thanks in no small part to the white, black and red livery, set off against gold anodized spoked wheels.
Unlike previous iterations of the X-Ride, which ran 17” wheels with almost oversized off-road tyres, the 2023 version wears proper off road rims in traditional sizes – 21” up front and 18” at the rear. This not only gives the Mash a more traditional 1970’s enduro bike stance, but should lead to a more agile machine on road and a more capable one off it.
It’s a basic machine but looks like a refreshing alternative for those looking for an unfussed set of wheels. There’s still some modernity though. The 43mm forks are adjustable for rebound and compression, while there’s also LED lights and USB charging socket.
Fancy one? They be in Mash dealerships from next month, costing £5599 and coming with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
