Two former soldiers will take a 15,000-mile motorcycle fundraising trip across 26 European capitals, Xperedon reports.

Harry Glover and Pete Bray will start their “Triumph over Tragedy” trek on 1 August from Buckingham Palace and over the course of the journey they will ride as far north as Helsinki. Bucharest is their eastern-most destination and the pair will head as far south as Athens.

The lengthy trip is being undertaken in support of three charities: the British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association, Soldiers off the Streets and Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

The British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association is a military charity organisation that supports ex-soldiers who have lost limbs, the use of limbs or eyesight. Soldiers off the Streets provides food, shelter and support for those servicemen who have returned from active service, while the Alder Hey Children’s Charity supports the UK children’s hospital which offers a wide range of special medical services, including cancer care.

In every European city an event is planned with the help of veteran organisations in each of the countries the bikers will visit. There will be also many motorcyclists joining the ride along the way to help the duo raise awareness of the trip and its cause.

Glover and Bray have appealed for sponsors to support their trip by providing funds for fuel, food and equipment. Glover said that they were looking for any help willing parties can offer, from supplying food to providing bikes. This will in turn help the two bikers make a difference to many lives, he added.

Pete Bray has previously been involved in record-breaking adventures, including a 2001 expedition that saw him take a 2,980-mile kayak trip from Newfoundland to Ireland.

Harry Glover, on the other hand, is an enthusiastic motorcyclist who was inspired to organise the challenge after he found out that his daughter would be undergoing cranial surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
