All at Carole Nash and Insidebikes are saddened by the death of Russell Curwen, who died in a road traffic accident in Lancaster on Saturday night.
Russell, 49, from Kendal was a regular volunteer for Blood Bikes North West and was on duty when his bike collided with a Jaguar car on Caton Road, Lancaster, at around 7.45pm. He was airlifted to hospital but unfortunately passed away shortly afterwards
Russell’s family issued a statement saying: “Russell liked to live life to the full. He had a keen interest in active hobbies including diving, skiing, mountain biking and surfing, however, it was for his employment as a Medical Services Support Driver and his voluntary work for the Blood Bike North West that Russell is best remembered.
“He gave up his time to take much-needed, vital blood supplies to hospitals to help people who needed it most, and Russell died doing what he loved. Russell is a much-loved son, brother and uncle and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
A Just Giving page has been set up to help contribute towards the cost of Russell’s funeral. To donate, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/russell-curwen-shift-over-stand-down
