Carole Nash ambassador Leon Haslam admitted the weekend’s superbikes final showdown at Brands Hatch proved a tough end to the championship, but has vowed to return with style next year.
Haslam finished 17th in qualifying with a time of 1m 25.458s, and did not finish the first race. However, he rallied on and posted finishes of fifth and fourth respectively in races two and three. This meant he finished the season second with 640 points, behind champion ‘Shakey’ Shane Byrne.
Speaking after the final day’s events, Haslam said the year was one of “highs and lows.
“We’ve had some issues but we’ve also had some fantastic races and I really want to thank the whole JG Speedfit Kawasaki team.
“This last round here at Brands has been hard and we’ve had issues but I’ve learnt a lot and know what to do next year. Generally, looking back on the year, I’m really happy and all three of us in the team have worked brilliantly together.
“Unfortunately, I did all my crashing in the showdown but we’ve still scored the same amount of wins as Shakey, achieved more podiums and scored more points overall so I’m happy with that. It’s fired me up and I can’t wait for next year!”
Rebecca Donohue, Head of Marketing at Carole Nash, says: “We’d like to congratulate our ambassador Leon on his fantastic performance in the British Superbike Championship. It was a nail-biting finale so we’re really proud.
“We’ve been closely following Leon’s progress throughout the Championship and have really enjoyed supporting him throughout the season. We wish him a well-earned break!”
It goes without saying that the Carole Nash team and insidebikes will be right behind Leon next season!
