Honda paid tribute to the memory of Marco Simoncelli at the weekend with the presentation of a special edition CBR1000RR.
Honda presented the bike, along with Marco’s RC212V race bike from last season, to his father Paolo, in honour of the late MotoGP star.
Simoncelli tragically died after an accident at the Malaysian Grand Prix last season, aged just 24.
Unveiled in a special ceremony at Mugello, the Fireblade was designed by Aldo Drudi and was inspired by the memorable Super-Sic colours and his number 58. The bike, along with the Gresini Honda RC212V, will be auctioned off on eBay to raise money for the Marco Simoncelli Foundation.
This weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Mugello was the first Italian round since Simoncelli’s death in October 2011.
