Honda Updates VFR800X Crossrunner

A new version of the VFR800X Crossrunner has been unveiled by Honda Motor Europe, with several updates including an increase in power and torque and redesigned bodywork.

Revisions have been made to the machine’s 800cc V4 engine to provide a boost in power and mid-range torque. The VTEC-equipped 90° V4 DOHC 16-valve engine now offers greater low- and mid-range torque, plus increased peak power of 78kW, delivered at 10,250rpm.

The 2015 VFR800X also features new styling, longer travel suspension and new wheels and brakes. Other features include Honda’s Selectable Torque Control System (S-TCS), ABS, LED lights, self-cancelling indicators and 5-stage heated grips as standard, the manufacturer said.

With the latest model, the rider benefits from the same kind of S-TCS fitted to the Crosstourer. Two levels of the torque control system are available (plus off), to sense imminent loss of rear wheel traction and reduce torque to allow the tyre to grip.

ABS comes as standard and the front 17-inch hollow-cast aluminium wheel is fitted with dual 310mm discs, worked by radial-mount four-piston calipers. The tyres are sporty street-size 120 at the front and 180 at the rear.

The aluminium twin-beam frame features a lighter, revised subframe and new aluminium swingarm, and the seat is now adjustable, offering two height options.

According to Honda, the VFR800X is a motorcycle designed for hard riding fun, but also built with style, comfort and practicality in mind.

It will be available through Honda UK Motorcycle dealers from early December. Before that, fans and buyers can get a closer look at the new bike at Motorcycle Live in the last week of November. The price tag has not yet been announced.
