Kawasaki UK have decided to launch a special Touring version of their 650 Versys all-rounder, following a positive reaction to a prototype at the NEC show last December.
The limited edition model, which is available in three colour schemes from the end of February, features hard panniers, a tinted flip-up screen and comes in ABS braking, or non-ABS formats. insidebikes tested the Versys, kitted-up with luggage, last month and found it a good commuter/tourer, especially for first time, full licence-holders.
The new model costs just £325 over the standard Versys list price and Kawasaki marketing boss Mike Johnstone sees it filling an expending sector of the market;
““We all know the excitement and freedom that riding a motorcycle brings, but practical issues such as outstanding fuel economy, ease of servicing and luggage capacity, are also understandably high on many riders’ wish lists.”
“The new Versys Tourer is based on a highly versatile and well regarded machine. We expect the first consignment to be snapped up very quickly when they become available at the end of February.”
