Kawasaki ZX-10R-Ninja

Kawasaki introduced the ZX-10R to it’s range in 2004 and we are now already on the fifth generation which was introduced in 2016, Kawasaki have since won the World Superbike title no less than 4 times in the last 5 seasons. 2012 saw Tom Sykes crowned Champion and then Jonathan Rea has won three titles on the bounce 15,16 and 17 and we wouldn’t bet against him making it title number 4.

The bike has evolved over the years into an amazing road and track bike with it being the number 1 choice of many BSB Superbike and Stock 1000 teams. The bike is updated each year with the help of the WSBK racers and is certainly a great seller in the difficult Supersport market.

For 2017 and now 2018 Kawasaki have not sat on the laurels and have introduced not only a RR spec model but also an SE model with electronic suspension amongst many other updates.

The Kawasaki team are proud to have Carole Nash insurance as one its sponsors in the 2018 BSB Championship as well as the IOM TT and NW200, Leon Haslam and Luke Mossey will spearhead the official Kawasaki BSB team and James Hillier will be the man aiming for a TT Senior and Superbike win.

Destiny Cycles LIGHTNING 124– Bike Blog

Bespoke Dyna-style bike looks set to be a crowd-pleaser.

Head down to the Carole Nash stand at the London MCN Bike Show for this £50,000 bespoke Dyna-style bike that was unveiled for the first time at Motorcycle Live 2017 on the Carole Nash stand.

Owned and commissioned by Nick Lord, it clocks 130mph from 135 bhp of power and a torque of 140 Nm. Despite the bike’s whopping dry weight of 340kg, the 124-cubic-inch S&S engine gives the ride plenty of oomph.

A five-speed [W1] transmission, a 27-inch seat height and a Destiny Cycles Dyna-style frame and swing arm add the magnificent finishing touches.

This is the first Dyna-style frame to come out of the Destiny Cycles workshop – and on this evidence, we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Model ‘O’

The Model ‘O’ Velocette

The Model ‘O’ was designed by Phil Irving in 1939. It was to be the road going version of the the Grand Prix bike, the Velocette Roarer.

Though Irving’s Model ‘O’ pushrod engine was designed independently of the Roarer, it retains the twin crankshaft, shaft-drive format.

The main crankcase casting is in one piece with front and rear bolted joints. The bottom end has no roller or ball bearings. It has white metal coated plain-bush mains with oil feeds, and originally the duralumin conrods ran directly on the pressed up crankshafts hardened crank pins. Shell big-ends have been added in machines later life.

The Model ‘O’ never went into production and instead the factory turned their attention to LE models. The model on the stand has been fully restored by well known UK Velocette historian, restorer, collector and author, Ivan Rhodes.

The bike was ahead of its time, even to ride now there is no engine vibration, the girder front fork doesn’t clatter or bob violently up and down and the rear end floats uneventfully over bumps and ripples. Steering is precise and nothing scrapes the road. A real testament to Irving’s quality design.
