The Mayor of Lisburn’s Charity Motorcycle Run will take place tomorrow, 23 August, to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The trip around the southeast of Northern Ireland is taking place in memory of local motorcyclist the late Bruce Moulds.
Those taking part in the ride out will meet at Lagan Valley Island at 9am and depart at 9.45am, heading to Newcastle and then on to Kilkeel, Rostrevor and Newry before returning to Lisburn. Participants are asked to pay an entry fee of £10 per person.
The motorcycle run was launched by the newly elected Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Andrew Ewing, who said that he hopes fellow riders will join with him to raise money for Marie Curie and to pay tribute to Bruce Moulds. The event is backed by the Moulds family.
Two local retailers will be offering special promotions and discounts on the day of the event to participants in the motorcycle ride. They are GS Motorcycles in Hillsborough and Phillip McCallen, five time winner of the Ulster Grand Prix, whose business is based at Lisburn’s Lissue Industrial Estate. Riders will make stops at these businesses on the route.
Councillor Ewing is encouraging individual riders and local motorcycle clubs to join the event and noted that the route will be well marshalled, with safety a top priority to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for riders.
Sponsorship forms are available from the Mayor’s Office and can also be downloaded here.
