After surveying more than 1000 bikers about their favourite hobby and where they like to ride, it was found that York is the most scenic place to ride your bike! It’s no surprise either; nestled just south of the North York Moors, York and its surrounding area are blessed with some stunning scenery.
The city itself is steeped in history. From its Nordic roots to its famous Minster, there’s plenty to see and do in the traditional capital of Yorkshire. But it’s when you get out of the city that the fun really starts. There are many routes to choose from, but one of the best is the A614 – A166 from Bridlington to York. Not only can you enjoy the sweeping countryside, but you get the pleasure of fish and chips and an ice cream by the beach at the end.
Go south and you can experience the brilliant ride from Tadcaster to Copmanthorpe. The twisting route truly encapsulates the beauty of the area, and gives justification as to why York has been voted the most scenic place for bike riders. With plenty of places to stay and some great restaurants, it makes it a real treat for bikers.
The survey also revealed that Liverpool was the most motorcycle-friendly city, and 90% of people voted Newcastle as the safest city. 70% said roads needed improving, but we’re sure that won’t be a problem as you’re sweeping through the Yorkshire countryside!
