The Ace Cafe Reunion was first held at the café’s North London premises in 1994, 25 years after it had closed in 1969. Staying true to tradition, the Ace Cafe Reunion 2023 is held at Ace Cafe London and on Madeira Drive, Brighton from 1 to 3 September.
This year, there are a host of anniversaries to celebrate. It is the 85th anniversary of the cafe originally opening in 1938, the 29th annual Ace Cafe Reunion, the 26th anniversary of “Ace Corner” opening on Sundays in 1997 for a “View & Brew”, and the 22nd anniversary of the cafe having fully re-opened in 2001.
The celebrations kick off at the Ace with the popular Bike Night on Friday 1 September. The following day there’s a café racer rideout to attend a special celebratory service and ‘Blessing of the Bikes’ at All Saints Church Hanworth. After the service and blessing, riders can return to the Ace for the “Best Ridden Cafe Racer” competition judging, awards and rock ‘n’ roll.
On Sunday 3 September ‘The Brighton Burn Up - Ride with the Rockers’ departs the Ace for Brighton, waved off by the Mayor of Brent. Riders will arrive to Brighton´s famous Madeira Drive welcomed by bands, stands, displays and the Mayor of Brighton. There’s also a short service/blessing by Father Matthew Cashmore, Chairman of the 59 Club, a registered church charity.
