BMW launch one-make race series alongside British Superbikes

bmw_cup

Here at Carole Nash Insidebikes, we love racing. Whether it’s cheering on our ambassadors at the highest level on the world stage or having a cracking day out at a local club race, there’s nothing quite like it on two wheels. But with the economy as it is, affordable racing series really are few and far between; especially on a national stage, such as in the BSB (British Superbike) paddock. But thankfully, the BMW F 900 R Cup is looking to change that when it arrives in 2023.

With a grid of up to 40 riders on identical, 105bhp machines, BMW have been looking to keep the costs down as much as possible. This means that the Cup bike will be available to buy complete from any BMW Motorrad UK dealership, at a cost of £11,000 complete with everything you need to race. This includes the actual bike, a set of K-Tech fork internals, a K-Tech rear shock, Arrow exhaust, a set of adjustable rearsets, a quickshifter and then race bodywork to finish it off. In order to keep the costs down as well, tyres will be limited to two sets a weekend, using Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC and Diablo Rain tyres as the control rubber.

The F 900 R Cup will run over eight rounds of the British Superbike Championship. It takes the place of the Ducati TriOptions Cup series as the championship’s one make series, with the Ducatis being incorporated into the existing Supersport/GP2 class.

If you fancy it but don’t have much experience, don’t worry. There will be technical help on hand at every round from Fortis Racing and you only need an ACU Clubman licence or above to enter.
