Harley-Davidson’s Pan America adventure tourer will be given the CVO (Custom Vehicles Operations) treatment in 2024, with a special factory custom version set to go on sale for £23,495. The special edition is based around the £17,295 Pan America 1250 Special, Harley’s BMW R 1300 GS competitor but comes with a unique paint scheme and a whole host of factory accessories to make it more accessible and better suited to rugged off-road riding and adventure touring.
While the Pan America’s Revolution Max 1250 engine remains unaltered, the chassis benefits from the Special spec’s semi-active front and rear suspension, adaptive headlight and selectable riding modes.
On top of this, the CVO version gains the optional adaptive ride height suspension, which drops the height of the bike at standstill to allow riders to get their feet on the ground, a three-piece aluminum luggage set, tubeless spoked wheels, quickshifter, skid plate and auxiliary lighting. The CVO Pan America also gets it’s a dedicated paint scheme, an interpretation of Harley’s traditional black and orange racing livery with the distinctive stars and stripes ‘number one’ logo on the tank. It’s a bit of a lighter touch than the usual CVO edition, but remains distinctive and a genuine option for riders looking for a fully-loaded adventure bike.
As well as the Pan America, the new Street/Road Glide models also get CVO special editions for 2024. Essentially different variations of the same motorcycle (the Street Glide has a fork mounted fairing while the Road Glide gets bigger, frame mounted, bodywork) the CVO baggers are lighter and more powerful than the stock machines, and feature a host of trick parts and custom paints in the CVO style.
The CVO Street Glide costs a not insignificant £38,595, almost £12k more than the standard model, and comes in an orange and black livery similar to that of the CVO Pan America, while the Road Glide (which costs £38,995) also has a more subtle dark red ‘Copperhead’ colour option.
Both get a tuned version of the 1977cc Milwaukee-Eight V-twin motor, which pumps out 127bhp and a staggering 193Nm of torque, while titanium and carbon fibre have been used throughout to keep the weight down, although it still comes in at a hefty 363kg.
