Cynics will point out that the Tour editions of the big Suzuki adventure bikes, the V-Strom 800DE, V-Strom 1050DE and V-Strom 1050 are only distinguishable from the standard bikes because they have panniers and top boxes. And yes, that’s true, but those are good looking and rugged bits of luggage, and the best bit is that by opting for the Tour bikes, you will save money compared to fitting luggage on a standard bike.
The three-piece aluminium luggage is available in silver or black, and adds 112 litres of storage capacity to the bikes.
Combine the new luggage with the existing touring features of the bikes – such as long suspension travel, comfortable riding position, large fuel tanks, cruise control (in 1050 models only) and hand guards as standard fitment – and you have a bike ready to take on a proper touring.
The Tour bikes are more expensive than the standard bikes, but less than adding the luggage on as accessories. The V-Strom 1050 Tour costs £14,499, the V-Strom 1050DE Tour £15,199, and the V-Strom 800DE Tour £11,999. All of them are £1500 more than the standard bikes, but that’s still a lot cheaper than adding the items on separately.
Suzuki’s three-year warranty will also apply to the luggage items, so you will get piece of mind, too.
