Starting a collection of specific items is a good way to pursue a hobby or a passion. Some people choose to collect classic cars for their beauty and engineering. Champion racer Lewis Hamilton is a good example, and considering his association with cars then it’s no surprise that he’s added to his assortment over the years. From a gorgeous Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to a stylish Pagani Zonda 760 LH, here are five of the finest cars that have been a part of Hamilton’s collection.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

This car was the first model built in the Shelby GT500 range, making it a historically significant motor. Based on the 1967 Mustang, the GT500 came with a 7-litre V8 engine, fibreglass body and sleek appearance. Hamilton’s version was heavily customised to give it an ‘Eleanor’ feel from Gone in 60 Seconds. It’s made entirely of Shelby parts, making it an authentic Shelby car.

McLaren P1

As Hamilton raced for the McLaren team, it’s little wonder that he came to own a car from the organisation. In 2015, it came into his collection at the Top Marques Monaco event. The hybrid hypercar sports a royal blue paint job and 903 hp twin-turbo V8 engine. The elegance can also be applied to the interior, which features blue leather and carbon fibre accents.

Pagani Zonda 760 LH

This car is one of the rarest in Hamilton’s collection, as it’s one of only 13 Pagani Zonda 760s made. Hamilton had his designed specifically to feature manual transmission and purple paint. With a V12 engine, the Zonda is capable of going from 0 – 62 mph in 2.6 seconds.

Shelby 427 Cobra

The Shelby 427 Cobra is a great example of the power of British and American engineering. Built in Detroit, the car was an improvement on previous models, coming with a powerful Ford 427 engine that could output a top speed of 164 mph. The one in Hamilton’s possession comes with a graceful body and shiny black paint job.

Ferrari LaFerrari

One of the most recent acquisitions, Hamilton’s LaFerrari is an impressive motor. Powered by a 6.3-litre engine, the LaFerrari can reach a top speed of 217 mph. The overall design is sporty and shows off the high performance of the vehicle. Hamilton added his own personal touch by making sure it came with a red roof, glossy black wheels and red outer rims.
