Vintage Bike Insurance

Owning a motorbike with heritage is a satisfying experience, as many riders feel as if they own a piece of history. A vintage motorbike combines tradition and beauty for a memorable machine. They are among the most historically significant vehicles in the world, so it’s only natural to grow attached. As experienced motorbike insurance providers, we offer vintage motorbike insurance policies designed to give you peace of mind.

Based on reviews of all products

Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell the difference between a vintage and a classic motorbike. In our opinion a vintage bike is over 30 years old, while a classic bike is between 20 to 30 years old. If your motorbike is between 10 to 20 years old then you may be eligible for our future classic policy.

There are a variety of benefits that come with a vintage motorbike insurance policy through Carole Nash. This ranges from agreed value to unlimited mileage. If you’re part of a vintage motorbike club, then you’ll also benefit from a discount. Whether you’re going for a long ride, or plan to display your motorbike at a show, our policy will cover you in various situations.

Vintage motorbike insurance policies through Carole Nash come with plenty of benefits as standard, including:

  • European cover for up to 90 days
  • UK & European Breakdown cover, including At Home Assistance
  • Up to £100,000 of Legal Expenses cover in the event of an accident which is not your fault
  • Uninsured Driver cover

Depending on your insurer and chosen tier of cover, further benefits may also be available:

  • Agreed value
  • Salvage retention rights
  • Static display cover
  • No excess
  • Unlimited mileage
  • Up to 10% discount for club members (not including fees, optional extras or premium finance)
  • Cover for club rallies
  • Spare & dismantled parts cover

You can choose between two tiers of cover, plus optional extras, and create a policy that offers your vintage motorcycle the protection it deserves.

Platinum – Our base level of cover includes features such as EU cover, a 24/7 Emergency Accident Helpline, new bike replacement, and more. You’ll also get Motor Legal Cover and European Breakdown Cover, including At Home Assistance.

Diamond – Our premium tier includes all the benefits of our Platinum policies, but with added Personal Accident Cover (up to £21,000).

When you’re considering insurance for your vintage motorbike, it’s important to select cover that suits your needs. There are three types of bike insurance to choose between:

  • Third party: only covers damage to a third party’s vehicle or property.
  • Third party, fire, and theft: Also covers your bike if it is stolen or damaged by fire.
  • Comprehensive: Includes all of the above whilst also insuring you for any accidental damage to your own bike.

Your motorcycle insurance can be invalidated in some circumstances. For example, any injury, loss, damage, or accident would not be covered if:

  • Your vintage bike is being ridden by an unlicenced rider
  • Your bike is being ridden by someone who isn’t insured on it
  • Your bike is carrying goods or pillions in a way that compromises how safe it is to ride

You must familiarise yourself with these exclusions. We have only listed a few examples above, and you should check your policy wording for more details.

Unfortunately, we can’t answer this question here because your premium will be based on a number of factors. These factors range from your chosen cover level and riding experience to the model of your bike and how you store it.
