Festival-Of-The-Unexceptional-Cars.jpg

Classics cars are exceptional vehicles, but everyday cars shouldn’t be underestimated. There have been plenty of ordinary motors that have stood out for their design and practicality. The Festival of the Unexceptional celebrates the greatest mundane cars ever built and it’s coming back on the 14th July. Held at Stowe House, near Silverstone Circuit, the show is in its fifth year.

The Festival of the Unexceptional will showcase 45 cars that used to be commonplace but have almost disappeared from the roads. The cars will be chosen by a panel of motor experts: Edd China, Jon Bentley, Sam Skelton, Danny Hopkins, Tanya Field and Gary Axon. All of the judges have years of experience in the automotive industry, with their professions ranging from TV presenting to classic car journalism. The panel will also choose a further five vehicles from the visitor car park to be displayed alongside the other 45.

Entries this year include a Datsun Bluebird, Mercedes-Benz 190, Volkswagen Golf L and Fiat Strada. To celebrate the fifth anniversary, previous winners will return. The vehicles set to return are a Nissan Cherry Coupe, Hillman Avenger Super Estate, 1983 Datsun Sunny and Morris Marina pick-up. Classic cars will also be on display, ranging from a 1975 Mitsubishi Colt Galant to a 1967 Toyota Corona.

To commemorate the fifth anniversary, a souvenir hardback programme ‘book’ is being produced. A set of collector’s car comparison playing cards are also being produced. For more information on the Festival of the Unexceptional be sure to check out the official website.
