The British Motor Museum contains the largest collection of classic British cars in the world. It’s an iconic venue that hosts all kinds of events and there will be a series of workshops to get involved with in the autumn. People will be able to improve their skills in creative writing, photography, drawing and classic car ownership.
For photography fans, three workshops are taking place. ‘Cars through the Lens’ is happening on the 6th October and is aimed at aspiring photographers, while ‘Lights, Cameras…Cars’ is happening on the 7th October. This workshop is centred around developing lighting skills for the advanced. ‘Cars through the Lens goes Studio’ is happening on the 17th November and is geared towards the most experienced photographers.
Anyone who’s interested in art and drawing can attend ‘Sketching and Painting Land Rovers’ on the 7th October. The workshop is led by Land Rover enthusiast Maria Clancy and will cover how to capture the cars in detail. Another workshop called ‘Sketching from Automotive History’ is happening on 20th October, followed up by the ‘Automotive History in Watercolour’ workshop on 21st October, which gives visitors the chance to paint their favourite cars with watercolours.
The watercolours workshop will be run by pencil sketcher Richard Cook and he’ll be heading up two other workshops in November. ‘Automotive Sketching in Perspective’ on the 24th November will focus on cover techniques, like one and two point perspective and vanishing points. An advanced perspective workshop will take place on 25th November for artists wanting to gain an understanding of 3 point perspective.
Creative writers will be able to take part in ‘Motoring Memoirs’ on 20th October. Taught by bestselling author Sharon Bradshaw, you’ll learn writing techniques that can help you create your own stories.
Richard Cook, a pencil sketcher, will deliver a more general sketching workshop called ‘Sketching from Automotive History’ on 20 October followed by an ‘Automotive History in Watercolour’ workshop on 21 October, giving guests the chance to paint their favourite cars with watercolours.
Furthermore, Cook will also deliver two workshops to participants solely based on perspective. ‘Automotive Sketching in Perspective’ on 24 November will cover techniques such as one and two point perspective, vanishing points and the horizon line, with the addition of an advanced perspective workshop on 25 November for artists wishing to gain an understanding of 3 point perspective.
For those interested in creative writing, bestselling author Sharon Bradshaw will deliver ‘Motoring Memoirs’ on 20 October. Guests will be taught creative writing techniques and the skills they need to form their own vivid stories.
